Meta Lewis Hausser was born in Bay City, Texas. She attended and later taught third grade at Saint Mary’s Hall in San Antonio, Texas.  She received a BA in Elementary Education and History at Trinity University. Meta is a fifth generation family member of the historic Hawkins Ranch located in Matagorda County, Texas and is a General Partner in the Hawkins Ranch Limited Partnership.

She has spent her life loving and caring for the Texas outdoors where she cherishes its diverse and unique flora and fauna. Meta has been an Approved Floral Design Judge in The Garden Club of America for seventeen years.  She is married to Boo Hausser, has one son, three grandchildren and Kit, a Labrador Retriever.
