When a young vulture's nest came crashing down in Kimana Sanctuary, Big Life's rangers stepped in to give this amazing bird a second chance.
For more than a week, rangers Mayiani and Lelei climbed the tree daily to feed the chick, even returning it to the nest several times after its early attempts at flight ended back on the ground.
Then, finally, success! The young vulture took its first proper flight.
With vulture populations declining across Africa, every bird matters. And thanks to some remarkable dedication (and a few battle scars) from our rangers, this one has a fighting chance.
Here's to seeing it soar over Amboseli!
