For many children in the Greater Amboseli Ecosystem, getting an education starts with simply getting to school.

That can mean walking upward of 15-kilometers, sometimes through areas shared with elephants and other potentially dangerous wildlife.

For Maasai girls, that journey can come with additional challenges, including teen pregnancy, early marriage, domestic responsibilities, and families prioritising the education of sons when resources are limited.

Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of our partners at Big Girls Foundation, we have constructed a new 96-bed girls dormitory at Olandi Junior Comprehensive School in Mbirikani.

Complete with solar power and clean, running water, the dormitory gives girls a safe to live, attend classes, study, and continue their education.

This is the second dormitory funded by Big Girls Foundation, and the third dormitory Big Life has constructed across our area of operation in the past four years.

These buildings are more than infrastructure. They are long-term investments in the communities who share this landscape with wildlife -- another step towards building a future in which natures thrives and communities prosper.
