At Big Life Foundation USA, we value your privacy, and we will never share your personal information or contact you without your permission. This statement explains some of the steps we take to protect your privacy, as well as some choices you can make about how your information is collected, updated, and used by us.
We have made this policy available on our homepage and at the bottom of each of our website pages, especially those on which personal information is likely to be requested, so it will be easy to find.
How Big Life Collects Information
We do not collect any personally identifying information about you, unless you intentionally and knowingly choose to provide it to us. Providing personal information is strictly voluntary.
Such information may be submitted electronically via email, on paper (such as at an event or via postal mail), verbally (by phone or in person), on our website by completing an online form (such as subscribing to our e-newsletter, purchasing an item from our e-store, or making a donation), or via social media (such as by commenting on a post in Facebook, Twitter, etc.).
Types of Information Big Life Collects
The types of information we collect may include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following:
Domain Name, IP Address, or other anonymous online data**
*It is important to note that we NEVER store any of your payment details, such as credit card numbers, bank details, or any other financial information, in our system. This includes the information provided by our Ranger Club members who sign up for recurring monthly donations online. In fact, for all online donations, we do not at any point have access to your credit or debit card details. That information is handled exclusively by our secure payment processors, including, but not limited to, vendors such as PayPal or Authorize.net.
**We may collect and store on an anonymous, aggregate basis information about your online visit to our website. This information may include your IP address; the name of the domain from which you access the internet; the date, time, and length of your visit; the pages you viewed; and/or the site you visited just before coming to ours. We use this information only to monitor the use of our site, such as measuring the number of visitors to different sections or the average amount of time spent there. This helps us to make our site more useful and engaging for our visitors. We also use Google AdWords and Analytics to display content-specific advertisements to visitors who have previously been to our site, when those visitors go to other websites that have enabled the Google Display Network.
How Big Life Uses Your Information
We typically use your information for the following purposes:
- to process your donations and/or e-store purchases,
- to send tax receipts and/or thank you notes,
- to keep you informed about our work on the ground in Africa,
- to respond directly to your inquiries (such as answering a question you have asked us via phone or email),
- to request updated payment details (such as if we are notified by a payment processor that your credit card is about to expire), or
- to occasionally solicit donations (we typically send two appeals per year).
You may opt out at any time if you no longer wish to be contacted (see below).
How Big Life DOES NOT USE Your Information
Big Life does not sell, rent, trade, or share any of our supporters’ information with any outside party without your express written permission to do so, or unless compelled by force of law.
